Refurbishment of twelve meeting and events spaces | Strand Palace Hotel Case Study
Located in the heart of the West End, the Strand Palace Hotel is a well-established hotel that blends contemporary hospitality with a rich Art Deco heritage, making it a landmark venue for both leisure and corporate guests. With a busy schedule of meetings, conferences and events, the hotel’s spaces needed to reflect both the character of the building and the practical demands of modern use.
As part of a wider refurbishment programme, twelve meeting and event spaces were reimagined to create a more cohesive, contemporary environment. Burgess was appointed to support the project, supplying Evosa 08/2 side chairs finished in a Solid Gunmetal Grey frame and upholstered in Vescom Zenith fabric. Designed to balance comfort, durability and flexibility in high-use environments, the seating solution was carefully selected to complement the updated interiors while meeting the operational requirements of a busy events venue.

What was the project, and what were you looking to achieve?
The project involved the refurbishment of twelve meeting and events spaces within our hotel. The aim was to deliver a contemporary, refreshed look while still respecting and complementing the Art Deco heritage of the building.
What challenges were you facing before working with Burgess?
One of the main challenges was that the initially proposed chair specification was not fit for purpose. The design leaned heavily towards leisure use, whereas a significant portion of our business is corporate events, requiring furniture that is both practical and professional.
How did Burgess help solve these challenges?
Burgess responded very quickly, proposing a number of suitable alternatives that better aligned with our operational needs. Key practical considerations, such as stackability and flexibility of use, were fully taken into account alongside the design brief.
What was the end result or outcome?
The final result was a beautiful meeting and events chair that fits the spaces perfectly. It delivers a modern aesthetic while working seamlessly with the wider design scheme of the refurbishment.
How has the furniture performed since installation?
The furniture has performed very well since installation, meeting both our operational requirements and aesthetic expectations.
