Our\nfactory is closed at Burgess Furniture, as we continue to follow Government\nguidelines on keeping our staff safe during the coronavirus pandemic. As you\nknow, it’s an unprecedented time in our 60-year history. But like other\nmanufacturers, we don’t want to sit back and do nothing: we want to give back\nand help in the fight against the disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As\nsuch, over the last week, we have been using our 3D printing capabilities and\ncollaborating with other firms across the UK to make essential medical visors\nfor key workers fighting COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\ncomes after our 3D printing manufacturer developed a prototype of the gear and\ncoordinated with its community to make all the necessary parts. To date, it has\ndistributed over 2,500 ‘3D printed face shields’ to hospitals across the\ncountry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s\ncertainly amazing to have access to all this technology during these\nchallenging times. We’re running our printer 24\/7, creating four parts every\nday to help make these life-saving visors. We’re incredibly proud of the\nnationwide, collective response in the fight against COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As\nwell as the medical visors, we are creating aprons for the NHS, using our\nautomated CNC fabric cutting machinery. We are now contacting hospitals, care\nhomes and GPs to see if they need any of these aprons to help protect their\nstaff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
